Eneco launches the Enecoupon
Boosting buying power with a digital voucher
Client: Eneco Belgium
Period: Sep 2020 – March 2021
Target group: B2B / B2C
Services: technological set-up, software configuration, project management, helpdesk, administrative support
In 2020, the corona virus seriously affected the sales numbers of numerous shops and restaurants, many of which have a business account with energy supplier Eneco. To offer them some alleviation, Eneco decided to launch the Enecoupon solidarity campaign, that aimed at enticing private customers to shop locally. First, shoppers could buy a 25 or 50 euro voucher via the web shop, which could then be spent. Thanks to a mailing campaign with discount codes, in reality Eneco customers would only pay half, whereas the respective business owners were reimbursed the discounted amount by Eneco.
The main idea behind the Enecoupon campaign was relatively simple, technically however, it was less easy. Generating the discount codes and allocating them to the customers via their email address, producing customised vouchers with QR codes, validating Enecoupons, reimbursing the businesses….
Eneco called upon Wisely for project management, technical implementation, admin and the helpdesk for participating shoppers and businesses.
Technically, the first phase entailed the selection and configuration of the back-end platform. The campaign was run on an existing software application, which was optimised to meet Eneco’s requirements. Here at Wisely, we are of the opinion there is no need to keep re-inventing the wheel, since many existing solutions, combined cleverly, can definitely deliver what our clients have in mind. Of course this is cost-effective as well and it shortens the actual duration of the project.
The solution we selected ensured shoppers could purchase their Enecoupon in the web shop and in return receive their personal voucher with QR code via email.
We also ensured all participating shops were able to easily cash the voucher by scanning the QR code with their tablet or smartphone, or entering the details on the web platform. They also could consult all transactions at any given time in the digital portal for retailers.
Wisely managed all communication aimed at the participating businesses, which included writing and sending clear mails and manuals.
The helpdesk was at hand via telephone or email for practical support in Dutch or French, when needed.
The settlement of the reimbursements between Eneco and the businesses was handled by our admin support team.
“The aim of the Enecoupon campaign, being a sustainable energy supplier, was to boost the sales results of our business customers in those difficult corona times. Wisely selected and configured the best-fit software, took care of technical implementation and managed support for the participating businesses faultlessly. The fact Wisely looked after all responsibilities and details, meant I felt at ease throughout the entire campaign. We delivered a silver lining to our customers in such turbulent times.”
